Canberra Teacher not Guilty of Sex with Student

A Canberra school teacher who was accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student has been found not guilty by the ACT Supreme Court.
Tania Tominac, 43, a science teacher at St Francis Xavier College in Florey, Canberra, had been charged with five counts of sexual intercourse with a person under 16, and one count of maintaining a sexual relationship with a person under 16.
The by claimed that the offences occurred in 2005 and that Mrs Tominac had sent him numerous text messages and spent hours on the phone with him. He also claimed that she had both oral and anal sex with him.
However when Justice Malcolm Gray heard the trial without jury he found Mrs Tominac not guilty on all counts.
Mrs Tominac began crying when her verdict was read out. She made no comment to the media.
