Canberra art gallery boosts ACT economy
The final day of the exhibition Degas: master of French art at the National Art Gallery of Australia finished in fine tune yesterday, helping boost the ACT economy.
More than 153,000 visitors saw the first Degas exhibition in Australia, which was held over 100 days, with over 9000 people viewing the 45-collection exhibition in its last weekend.
Costing $6million, the Canberra gallery has made profit from showcasing Degas: master of French art and contributed to boosting the ACT economy to a value of $30.3million.
"We are proud to have curated this exhibition on Degas, the first ever held in Australia," said the National Art Gallery of Australia director Ron Radford in The Canberra Times.
